Read the exact version, not the product family
A photograph can show accessories, planted staging or a different glazing option from the standard kit. Start with the full product name and variant. The frame colour, pane type, door configuration and “with base” suffix can change what arrives. Save the technical drawing and assembly instructions for that version before you pay.
The core kit is generally the frame, specified glazing, door and the fixings needed to put those parts together. Beyond that, inclusion is model-specific. A mini growhouse may contain useful shelves and opening lids; a walk-in may leave staging entirely to the buyer. The following categories are worth checking individually.

The Halls manuals cover multiple sizes and glazing systems: use the matching column and your supplied revision, rather than counting every illustrated part. A newer online manual may differ from an older kit. If the quote, manual and listing disagree, resolve the exact specification with the supplier before ordering.
What changes the buying decision?
The Wall Garden's optional base is an extra purchasing decision; the Hybrid's supplied perimeter frame and Blockley's integral base still require prepared support. Four supplied Blockley roof vents are not four automatic openers. Its included downpipes also do not supply a water butt. Assembly fittings should never be assumed to include fixings suitable for your particular slab, concrete or wall.

Frame and glazing
Check whether panes are horticultural glass, toughened glass, acrylic, clear polycarbonate or twin-wall polycarbonate. Do not infer this from a lifestyle image. The Halls Wall Garden 24, for instance, lists 3mm horticultural glass as standard and offers toughened glass as an upgrade. The Palram Hybrid 6 × 4 uses a twin-wall polycarbonate roof and clear polycarbonate sides. Those are not interchangeable kits even if their footprint appears similar.
Read how the panels are retained and whether spare clips or gaskets are supplied. Keep the assembly documents because replacement parts are easier to identify by model and panel position later. For a fuller trade-off, see glass versus polycarbonate.
Perimeter base versus foundation
“Base included” may refer to a galvanised steel perimeter frame. The Palram Hybrid 6 × 4 includes one, while the Halls Wall Garden 24 has an optional base. The Halls Cotswold Blockley 8 × 10 lists an integral base. None of these statements means the garden has already been levelled, drained or made suitable for anchoring. Confirm the permitted supporting surfaces, threshold detail and finished height before groundworks.
If you want a paved or concrete floor, plan it separately and account for water leaving the structure. If growing in soil beds, check how the frame is fixed and how the ground will be kept level. Our base comparison explains the practical choices.
Doors, vents and gutters
Count the opening roof vents and note whether an automatic opener is included. A single vent may be adequate for one small layout yet not suit a hotter, crowded site without additional measures. A door that slides avoids a swing area but has a fixed opening width; a hinged door needs clearance outside. Confirm its location and whether it is reversible.
Guttering can be integral, optional or absent. Even where gutters are supplied, a downpipe, water butt and overflow route may not be. Check where roof runoff will land, especially against a house wall or near a paved path.
Shelving, staging and growing accessories
Mini growhouses often make shelving a central feature. The Forest Wooden Mini 4 × 2 has two shelves; many full-size greenhouses are delivered without benches, plant supports, pots or watering equipment. Before buying optional staging, draw the aisle, door width and mature plants. A bench that looks slim online can leave too little working room in a 6 × 4.
Heating, shading, thermometers, irrigation and automatic vent openers should be treated as separate decisions unless explicitly bundled. Choose them against the crops and site rather than assuming every greenhouse needs the same accessories.
Fixings, anchoring and installation
An included bag of assembly fixings is not necessarily a suitable ground-anchor kit. Match anchors to the precise model and support surface. A wall greenhouse also requires an appropriate wall or other approved fixing surface; check pipes, drainage and the condition of the wall before choosing a kit. Most online greenhouse kits are supplied for self-assembly unless the chosen listing explicitly includes professional installation. Confirm who prepares the foundation, who handles glazing, what happens if parts are missing, and whether packaging is taken away. Allow space to store components safely while you build.
A useful pre-order question list
Write down the exact model and ask: What glazing arrives? Is the perimeter base included? What foundation does the maker approve? How many roof vents and gutters are in the box? Are shelves shown in photographs included? What anchors are required? What are the packed dimensions, delivery restrictions and assembly responsibilities? If any answer is unclear, resolve it before paying for groundworks tailored to an assumed specification.

Does a greenhouse kit include a floor?
Usually a walk-in greenhouse is intended to stand on a separately prepared surface or growing beds, not to come with a complete floor. Check the exact listing and foundation instructions.
Is a greenhouse base the same as a foundation?
No. A supplied metal perimeter base supports or raises the frame, while the ground beneath must still be stable, level and suitable for the manufacturer's anchoring method.
Are vents included with a greenhouse?
Many kits include at least one opening roof vent, but the number and type vary. Automatic openers are commonly optional unless the exact listing says otherwise.
